Electronics firm Philips has said it has successfully fabricated lens digital camera for ultra-small mobile phones. The difference of this type of lens is that it works with the same principles as the human eye.
Unlike other digital cameras, the new lens of Philips does not require mechanical devices because they operate based on the movement of the two fluids in a tiny transparent pipe. Lenses can adjust the focus on the object and capture sharp images with a similar mode of operation the eyes.
The operating principle of the lens as follows: A small electrode line is loaded into the sides of the tubes, then one of two fluid lines will move to the edges while the other fluid is pushed to cover part in the tube. The intersection of two fluid lines will function as a lens. By moving the power line, the lens can be adjusted to focus on distant objects or very close to, or even close to 5 cm.
According to Phillips, the type of lens is on display at Ecommerce Expo Hanover - CeBIT (Germany) and they are the first lenses in the world is made by technology as above.
